Well this is interesting…. Had a blood test at my gp yesterday evening. 4 hours later got a call from an assessment team saying “get to a&e now”.

Turns out my eGfR is only 9, creatitine 600 and a load of other metrics completely out of whack.

It could be an infection, a sign of continued kidney function decline not spotted these past 7/8 months or it could be a sudden loss of function.

After a sleepless night on rock-hard seating I’m just about to have an ultrasound to see if that sheds any light on matters. I doubt it will be conclusive but its a process.

May stay in, may not, may need dialysis, may not…. The uncertainty as a patient is a contributing factor in stressing us out but, again, there’s a process and there are very few crystal balls in the nhs.

Hopefully this evening / tomorrow will shed light on things and at least give some firm direction.
